Shin Creek Music Festival

The Shin Creek Music Festival brings beautiful, energizing classical and contemporary chamber music to the Beaverkill Valley. For most of his life, co-artistic director Nicky Swett has spent summers and played music at the Lew Beach home that once belonged to his great-grandfather Irving Berlin. He is thrilled to team up with his wife, internationally renowned cellist Geirþrúður Guðmundsdottir, to present three concerts of favorite solo and small ensemble works in the newly renovated Lew Beach Community House.

Shin Creek Music Festival Concert 3: Ravel, Arensky, and Irving Berlin

Thursday, August 6, 6:00pm

Lew Beach Community House

The series comes to a close with a rollicking program of romantic and modern statements. The program starts with selections by Irving Berlin newly arranged by Nicky and Willie Swett. Then, it’s Maurice Ravel’s Duo for Violin and Cello, one of his boldest and most capricious compositions. The show closes with Russian romantic Anton Arensky’s magnificent, elegiac Quartet for Violin, Viola, and Two Cellos, which drives from the depths of despair to a mood of euphoric celebration.
