About LBCH
The Lew Beach Community House is a volunteer-led community space located in the Western Catskills region of New York State. Since 2023, the building has been owned by the Beaverkill Valley Land Trust, a local conservation organization dedicated to preserving the beauty and environment of our region.
History
The Lew Beach Community House was a Methodist Church for over 100 years, serving as a community and spiritual hub for the small town of Lew Beach and its population of farmers, loggers, and fishermen. The last pastor to lead the church ended his tenure in 2014, and for nearly a decade the building lay locked and unused.
In 2023, the Beaverkill Valley Land Trust purchased the building to preserve it and open it back up to the community. Since then, a local group of volunteers have brought the building back to life through restoration of the building, and community events including public meetings and movie nights.
